Business Support Officer

Who You Are

  • You have a minimum of 5 GCSEs (A-C) or NVQ Level 2 or relevant experience.
  • You possess at least two years of relevant experience dealing directly with customers and partners.
  • You are able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • You can plan and organize workloads, ensuring work is completed to agreed standards.
  • You show an understanding and sympathetic attitude towards the bereaved.
  • You are familiar and competent with Windows-based software.
  • You are honest, reflective, and willing to improve your skills and style.
  • You demonstrate a willingness to promote Newport City Council's Strategic Equality Plan positively.

What the Job Involves

  • Providing clerical and administrative support to the team leader.
  • Assisting customers with enquiries related to funerals and memorials.
  • Communicating with customers and crematorium partners in person, by telephone, and in writing.
  • Conducting a range of administrative tasks, including those associated with cremations.
  • Receiving payments for crematorium services and maintaining records in compliance with financial regulations.
  • Assisting in building and maintaining effective relationships with crematorium partners.
  • Undertaking other related duties necessary for the successful operation of the crematorium.
