You are an experienced professional in the field of building inspections with a deep understanding of the construction, repair, and maintenance processes, particularly within the social housing sector. Your expertise in assessing the quality and compliance of building works is complemented by your strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. You are organized, with excellent report writing skills, and capable of working independently across various sites.
What the Job Involves
As part of the team, your primary responsibility is to ensure the quality and compliance of work performed on social housing properties. This includes conducting detailed inspections of properties and communal areas, assessing recent major works, and identifying maintenance issues such as damp, mould, and fire safety concerns. You will recommend future maintenance needs, work closely with contractors to resolve issues, monitor compliance with standards, and provide expert advice to the Planned Maintenance Team. Additionally, you will maintain thorough documentation and inspection reports.
Skills
- Proven experience as Clerk of Works, Building Inspector, or Surveyor
- Strong knowledge of building construction and maintenance
- Experience with social housing or local authority environments
- Understanding of fire safety and building regulations
- Quality assessment and enforcement skills
- Excellent report writing and record-keeping abilities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management
- Experience with planned maintenance or major works
